Police

P is for POLICE.

Of course a benign global dictator has to ensure their own personal safety and in the wider society the rule of law. And so here I will lay out my restructuring of and a few commands for the police forces of the UK and beyond.

Now, I would never rely upon the police for my personal safety. Too many of our good citizens have never been the same after a night in their ‘care’. So protection of the global dictator and their entourage will be by a private force of highly trained and loyal mercenaries, a little like back in the day in classical, emperor’s Rome.

Being someone who is generally up for fair play and who would like to see the best outcomes for all and sundry I demand from the police that they, en masse, and in an act of collective contrition, re-take their oath:

I do solemnly and sincerely declare and affirm that I will well and truly serve the Great Benign Dictator in the office of constable, with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people; and that I will, to the best of my power, cause the peace to be kept and preserved and prevent all offences against people and property; and that while I continue to hold the said office I will to the best of my skill and knowledge discharge all the duties thereof faithfully according to law.

I think the key affirmation here is ‘upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people.’ I’m not so sure they’ve been very good at that and that for a rather tediously extended period of time. It’s certainly timely that I will be taking the reigns of governance and sorting this sorry lot out 🙂

To ensure that the average officer is self policing and not only complies personally but has an eye on their peers I will simplify the police’s operations manual to just the following:

  • The police are citizens who are awarded powers to enforce laws and do so by consent of the people and by order of The Great Benign Dictator
  • The police will enforce the actual laws and not what they think a law might or ought to be.
  • Any perceived police ‘wrongdoing’ to be put to national vote and if found ‘guilty’ all officers present/involved to be demoted/reduced two points on salary scale
  • Any perceived police brutality of citizens in any situation including those of political demonstration, after arrest and in the police cell, down a dark alley etc to be put to an immediate national vote and if found ‘guilty’ all officers present/involved to be summarily and without recourse to appeal removed from their posts.

So, consent of the public and implementation of the rule of law with threat of loss of status, income or livelihood as the crowbars to ensure police compliance with ‘upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people’. It’s simple really and you would have thought that by now police officers would have ‘got it’, but they really have not.

The Police – They really don’t change, do they!
